Portraits

The exhibition presents 65 portraits, created between 2019–2024.
All the works are made with ink on acrylic-primed painting paper, each in the same size — 57 × 57 cm.

The works are painted directly from live models, but the aim is not likeness in a traditional sense. Rather, the focus is on the face as a field for presence and expression, a moment of concentration where sitter and artist share space. Each portrait must become its own story — an encounter between hand and perception.

The brush is loaded with black ink and moves freely across the paper; no outlines are drawn beforehand, and each line demands accuracy. The sitter poses for 3 hours, and during each session, 40–60 portraits are painted — most of them drawn multiple times, each unique in its immediacy.
