Home / Heima

The exhibition “Home” was created by Elva as a phenomenological art research project during her MA studies last winter at the Iceland University of the Arts, during her walks around Snæfellsjökull glacier, in solitude and with the purpose of exploring the impact of nature on her artistic creation. On this journey, Elva wrote four diaries from which she has selected material and published a book, which will be displayed and available for sale at the exhibition.

“Nature has always fascinated me, not necessarily as a direct subject matter in itself, but to explore its effect on me personally. I believe that nature has a calming effect on the mind and that a calm mind enhances creativity and brings one into a certain flow. Over time, my work has generally been graphics and paintings created using mixed techniques.”
