“Three Quarters of the Moon”

3 Walls Art Space, Munaðarhóll 25, Hellissandur
Sometimes we owe ourselves a quarter of an hour, says Ólöf.
We give ourselves a quarter of an hour for emotional intensity,
for joy, sorrow, cruelty, and grace.
We give ourselves a quarter of an hour to pull ourselves together,
to be ashamed or to care for our wounds,
to allow ourselves to heal so that we can then give ourselves a quarter of an hour to make a decision – and sow the seed.
We sow the seeds of creativity for a fully developed exhibition.
This exhibition was prepared over three quarters of an hour,
where Ólöf works with emotional nuances as the full moon in painting.
Ólöf is known for her bold, unfiltered painting style that moves freely between the figurative and the abstract, where her expressive brushwork dances across the surface in spirals of pain and joy.
Ólöf Björg Björnsdóttir was born in 1973 in Reykjavík.
She lives and works in the old Álafoss wool factory in Mosfellsbær.
She graduated from the painting department of the Iceland University of the Arts in 2001.
Ólöf Björg has held numerous exhibitions both in Iceland and abroad throughout her career.
